B. 3 Inch or larger PVC pipe penetrations in 2nd floor require one hour rated fire stop collar installed from below. 2nd floor 1 hr rated, having standard stud shaft wall from 2nd floor to bottom of roof deck. All other framing and insulation are approved contingent upon all trade rough in inspections.

Progress inspection. 2 hour rated floor sections, installed on the top side of the concrete second floor, to seal the concrete 2nd floor opening around all vertical 18 gage ductwork passing through 2nd floor to first floor ceiling. Note-this is creating a 2 hour fire separation system between 1st floor ceiling and 2nd floor, thus eliminating the need for a rated shaft wall. NOTE-Fire dampers are already installed in all vertical ductwork, at 2nd floor.

Progress, construct a 2 hr fire stop system by gypsum, at 2nd floor concrete slab opening, meeting the vertical mechanical ductwork penetrating the concrete floor slab. A; This is to provide a 2 hr ceiling rating for only the first floor records room designed for a 2 hr fire resistance rating. Passed.
